What Are Affiliates?
It sometimes helps to go through the basics if you are just getting into the world of online business. So, let’s discuss the answer to the question of what are affiliates?
What are affiliates? They are people or businesses that promote the products or services of another site in exchange for compensation. You’ll see advertisements on this page between the paragraphs and in the right column. These are advertisements offered through Google. We are promoting them in the role of an “affiliate” and receive compensation for it. This is the simple, classic form of an affiliate-partner relationship.
In our opinion, the first business you start up on the web should be as an affiliate. Why? Well, think about it. You can look up a site you like and then see if they have an affiliate program. If they do, you can start up your own site and/or blog for a few bucks and then join their program. Most will approve you immediately, but some will take a day. After that, you are ready to go.
The advantage of this approach is you spend next to nothing to get into business. The only way to really learn how to make money on the web is to jump in. As an affiliate, you can do it without risking anything more than your time and a few bucks. If you were doing this in the brick n’ mortar world, you would have to pay for an office, marketing, letterhead and who knows what. It would be expensive!
It should also be noted that there are different levels of affiliates. The vast majority of affiliates are known as “newbies”. As the name suggests, they are new to the process of online marketing and business. Super affiliates are an entirely different bread. Super affiliates have figured the process out and are moving big traffic and revenues. You have to be a newbie first, but your goal is to become a super affiliate over time. Once you do, the money will roll in.
What are affiliates? They are people or businesses promoting the services and products of other sites in exchange for commissions. In doing so, they are learning what works and what doesn’t on the web in preparation for making some really big money.
